Disability support under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) was conceived with the vision of providing differently-abled individuals with an ordinary life and access to mainstream society. TheCore Supports are the provisions and services that run your life daily. As the name suggests, Core Supports Budget funds everyday activities under four categories: Assistance with Daily Living, Consumables, Assistance with Social & Community Participation and Transport. Your disability may prevent you from handling household chores, getting dressed, cooking, cleaning and even yard maintenance.
You can access support for such activities under Assistance with Daily Living. Consumables include items that you use daily including medical items like urine bags and food tubes. Once you become confident enough to handle your daily activities, you can use the funds to participate in social and community activities. Transport funding is a bit more nuanced and differs from person to person. You can discuss your option with your plan manager, Local Area Coordinator or even your service provider.
